In lovely weather, my husband and I took a day trip to a fewfamous places in our local area.We had a wonderful day! These are places we visit quite often, yet we are constantly making new discoveries.Follow me on this trip......

RÖKSTENEN, ÖDESHÖG, ÖSTERGÖTLAND, SWEDEN.

Rökstenen is historically known to be carved in the 9th century.
New studies suggest it may be carved even earlier than that.
What is know for sure it that it is carved more than a century before the
proper stone carving tradition started.
The big difference between this rock and other carved memorial rocks is the
sequence which i unique and can be seen as the first literary work
preserved until today.
Rökstenen is the most myth surrounded runic rock in Sweden and
maybe the world.

continue to inspire the world. At the foot of southern Omberg
lies her beautiful Strand—a place created for light, thought, and beauty.
We stopped here for a coffee brake.

Alvastra Klosterruin, Ödeshög, Östergötland, Sweden.
Alvastra Abbey was founded 1143 by monks from the Cisterciens ordera powerful French order that brought modern methods ofarchitechture, administration and more.Sverker the older, the King of Östgötar and later ruler of Svearna,is believed to be a main driving force as to why the abbey was built.The ruins of Alvastra Abbey stand at the foot of Omberg,with many of the walls and arches are still preserved.a part of the gardens still flower, and a lovely lavender garden is at the center of the ruins.
My son and daughter-in-law were married in these beautiful ruins.A truly beautiful autumn wedding—a memory for a lifetime.
